Letter in the name of Rav Chaim Kanievsky about upcoming Atzeres this Sunday June 9th.
A letter written By Rav Elya Ber wachtfogel Rosh Yeshiva of South Fallsburg, quotes Rav Shlomo Kanievsky son of Rav Chaim Kanievsky in the name of his father that Bnei Chutz laaretz should go out and protest the Gezeiras hashmad.
The Gedolim agree, Something must be done about the Pending Gezeirah of Giyus Bnei Hayeshivos drafting them to the Israeli Army. What we have are differences of opinion and chilukei Daios how to Go about it. Harav Aaron Leib Shteinman is of the Opinion, that the way to fight it, is to be mechazek in Torah and More Torah learning. Hafganos and public protests he said are not effective, will not help or change the current Matzav. The lakewood Roshei yeshiva decided not to send their yeshiva. There are other Roshei yeshiva more aligned with the brisker shittah, Rav Shmuel Auerbach, Rav Dovid and Rav meir Soleveitchik, as well as Satmar that hold we must publicly protest and make a machah. "Az es tut vey shreit men" we must close the gemorah and come out to protest. Eilu V'Elu. There will be bnei hayeshiva from Litvishe yeshivos who will be attending.
Unfortunately there are those who will use the Protest to attack and be mevazeh Roshei yeshiva, Admorim, or others that do not hold of their way. Hopefully the Askanim will foresee to make sure the demonstration in Manhattan at Federal Plaza will be a Kiddush hashem it is challenging explaining the nature of the hafganah to the Secular media. Hopefully they will have the right spokesmen explaining in a way they will understand what we are protesting about.
There is a stira between Rav Chaim kanievsky and Rav Chaim Kanievsky
