President Obama shows off the White house "Menurkey"
President Obama celebrates zos Chanukkah with a pair of White House receptions. The minhag at the white house is to say 2 Brachos  the first שעשה נסים the second one שהחיינו. Since The hadlaka was after shkiah the bracha of lehadlik ner shel Chanukah was omitted.

He noted the rare quirk in the calendar that overlapped Thanksgiving with the start of eight-day Jewish holiday. He also recognized some of the people in the audience who are credited with coining unusual phrases to mark the holiday, such as "Thanksgivukkah," a combination of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, and "menurkey," a blend of the words menorah and turkey.
A menorah was lit at the first reception. About 500 people were expected at each one.  Read more HERE

  1. I am not sure why you feel it is important to post this. Is the message "see, we've made it in America"? If so, it reminds me of times in the past when Jews said "see, we've made it here in Germany" or "the Jewish people have finally arrived he in Poland", or "see, we are finally accepted here in Iraq".
Or is the message about what a friend of the Jewish people Obama supposedly is? If so, I recomment Dinesh D'Souza's book "The Roots of Obama's Rage" in which he clearly shows how Obama despises Israel and Europe for being "imperialist bullies" . For that matter, he doesn't like the United States either. Please note his attempts to create some sort of bizarre alliance between the US, Assad's Syria, Hizbullah and Iran.
Be careful in your choice of friends.
