Statement of Agudath Israel of America Regarding Recent Incidents of Anti-Semitism

It isn’t necessary to state our concern and revulsion at recent vandalism and threats against Jewish sites. They are reminders of the age-old and persistent hatred for Klal Yisroel that festers in the darker corners of even American society.

Jewish institutions, of course, need to be particularly vigilant these days, to help ensure that the odious cowards who have expressed themselves by making bomb threats and toppling headstones aren’t able to take their animosity any further, chalilah.

We are grateful to law enforcement authorities for acting with alacrity in the wake of the recent ugliness; to President Trump for his clear condemnation of anti-Semitic acts; to Vice President Pence for his personal participation in the clean-up efforts at the vandalized Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery near St. Louis; to New York Governor Cuomo for strengthening the state’s prosecution of hate crimes and for proposing $25 million to enhance security in religious schools; and to all the good citizens who have expressed their solidarity with the Jewish community during these difficult times.
Above all, we must always remember that the ultimate protection of our people comes from Above, and that our merits and our prayers are what, in the end, ensure our security.

    Sefer Chasidim, chapter 209:
Gentiles never did evil [to Jews] until Jews did it to each other first.
They did not disgrace Torah scholars until they disgraced each other first.

  4. Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman (born 1874 CE, died 1941 CE):
“When the Jews are essentially loyal to Judaism, anti-Semitism expresses itself in minor annoyances that suffice to prevent them from forgetting their destiny.
But when the Jews ignore the covenant that HaShem made with their ancestors and seek to live like the other peoples of the earth, then hordes of beastly anti-Semites swoop down furiously upon them, as is the case today.”

that the Jewish people remain a people apart.”

  5. Today, the New York Times printed another article about formerly-religious young Jews that have gone OTD (Off-the-Derech).

The New York Times does not repeatedly print articles about how Muslims are quitting Islam; they only print articles about how Jews are quitting Orthodox Judaism.

The New York Times does not repeatedly print articles about how Reform Jews are quitting Reform Judaism; they only print articles about how Orthodox Jews are quitting Orthodox Judaism.

Once again, the Jew-hating New York Times has expressed its relentless bias against everything which is authentically Jewish, including Orthodox Judaism, which it has attacked many times before, in addition to its relentless attacks against Israel.

The worst part of their relentless bias against everything which is authentically Jewish, is that millions of stupid ignorant disloyal Liberal Jews continue to buy it 365 days a year, and consider it to be their Tanach [Bible], even more than the actual Tanach.
