SLOATSBURG, N.Y. (Hamodia staff) - The Sloatsburg rest area on the New York State Thruway will open for the current summer season on Thursday as a convenient stop for Minchah and Maariv for those traveling upstate.
The rest area, on the northbound side of the Thruway between exits 15A and 16, will feature minyanim from 5:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Thursdays.
Thruway personnel, along with Rabbis Abe and Joel Friedman, will be supervising the area during those times. Their late father, Rabbi Morton Friedman, z”l, began the tradition many years ago and the area is named Tefillas Mordche in his honor.
Drivers are reminded to park on the upper level only. Also, the area is to be used for prayer only. No sales or solicitations of tzedakah will be tolerated
