Lebron James takes lesson from Internet Asifa

NBA star Lebron James has entered the playoffs in a serious note he has ditched his cell phone and Twitter use for the duration of the playoffs. No, not because of the shmutz but because of kavana He wants his team, the Miami Heat, to win the trophy. So how can he make it happen? Apparently the celebrity has decided to ditch the cell phone and Twitter use until after the games and on Wednesday fans noticed just how quiet the player has been online. That’s right, he hasn't been emailing or texting the fans like normal as he is focused on the playoff mode.

Lehavdil the playoffs are compared to chodesh Elul when the games take on a more serious tone. How often do we stay focused even for a single tefillah. Perhaps we can ditch our phone for just one Mincha or for that time we learn with our chavrusah or children. We are not here to learn from a NBA star but we can put in perspective how they approach a serious game, כל שכן for us to stay focused when it counts.

  1. This is common sense and applies equally to many types of distractions... what does it have to do with the asifa?
