Baruch Dayan Haemes: Reb Ben Zion Shenker, Z”l

Hamodia- Baruch Dayan Haemes.
The Modzhitz community, and the Jewish world at large, mourned the petirah of Reb Ben Zion Shenker, z”l, at the age of 92, on Sunday morning.

The levayah will be held at 1 p.m. from Shomrei Hadas.

Reb Ben Tzion’s musical compositions have become such integral parts of the world of Jewish song, that many do not even know that some of the most commonly sung melodies originated with him. The melodies he authored for Aishes Chayil, Mizmor l’Dovid and Yasis Alayich are second nature to Jews throughout the world.

Reb Ben Tzion has been synonymous with the Modzhiter dynasty for over half a century. He served as the “musical secretary” of the Divrei Shaul, Harav Shaul Yedidia Taub, zy”a, and since then has served as a lead baal tefillah and baal menagen of the chassidus.

As his prowess as a composer and singer grew, he became increasingly looked upon by aspiring Jewish musicians as the elder statesman of their trade, and was often turned to for advice, mentoring, and his famously good ear.

A fuller tribute will follow, be”H.

Yehi zichro baruch.

  1. May G_d decree that Ben Zion Shenker has permission to stand before His throne and intercede on behalf of all Jews who believe in Torah.

The Jewish Bible [Tanach] condemns marriage between Jews and non-Jews 13 times:
    {1} Exodus chapter 34
    {2}Bamidbar chapter 25
    {3}Deuteronomy chapter 7
    {4} Joshua chapter 23 verses 12 to 13
    {5} Proverbs chapter 2
    {6} Proverbs chapter 5
    {7} Proverbs chapter 6
    {8} Proverbs chapter 7
    {9} Ezra chapter 9
    {10} Nehemiah chapter 10
    {11} Nehemiah chapter 13
    {12} Hosea chapter 5
    {13} Malachi chapter 2.

The great Jewish scholar and leader Ezra literally pulled his hair out when he learned that Jews were intermarrying with non-Jews (Bible, Book of Ezra, chapter 9), even though there were only 400 intermarriages out of a population of 4 million Jews – less than a 1% intermarriage rate.

The great Biblical Jewish leader NEHEMIAH beat up Jews who intermarried with non-Jews, and also tore their hair out (Bible, Book of Nehemiah, chapter 13, verse 25).

NEHEMIAH was never criticized for this by any prophet, even though prophecy was still active in his time.

May G_d grant me that I should live to see the day when all Jews get smart and STOP BUYING THE NEW YORK TIMES and all other accursed anti-Jewish newspapers anti-Jewish magazines.
