Frum newspapers not always reporting the news any more

This weeks issue of  AMI Magazine touched on the current situation in Eretz Yisrael with the Giyus Bnei hayeshivos. There were many protest last week throughout the country following the arrest of a yeshiva bochur for failing to report to the induction center. The Yated Neeman ignored the entire issue only briefly mentioning it in the Charedi news section. AMI on the other hand not only reported it but had an interview with Harav Shmuel Auerbach shlita as well as a confidant of Rav Aaron leib Shteinman shlita presenting both views on how to best deal with the crisis.

The editor pointed out that there is only chilukei daios in the approach but the end result is the same. preventing the IDF of drafting Yeshiva Bochurim.

Most of the American frum media has shied away or tried to stay neutral not taking sides on the current disagreement among the litvishe Roshei yeshiva in Eretz Yisrael, but to ignore and not report on the news is also taking a side.

  1. Among other reasons, the concept of reporting the news without a slant is alien to most frum news outlets. So if they don't want to give it a particular slant it's a lot easier for them to just not report it at all. Trying to isolate the facts from their editorializing would be very difficult for them.

But there are other reasons as well.
