Bloomberg News: Lakewood Yeshiva- where Jewish life thrives in America, understanding Torah Lishma

Bloomberg Article by Noah Feldman, who previously wrote an article "Orthodox paradox" in the NY times magazine against frum Yidden, Torah and Modern Orthodoxy, now wrote on Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, a secular newspaper explaining what it means to learn Torah Lishmah..

"Graduates of institutions such as BMG won’t solve the demographic challenges to American Jewry highlighted by the Pew study. Moreover, the American Jewish community will not be fundamentally transformed by an Orthodox population that hovers near 10 percent. But BMG matters. It matters for the future of Jews in America precisely because it matters for the future of Judaism in America. By privileging ideas and thought over identity, it proudly stakes out a position of genuine durability"

  1. You do know that Noah Feldman is the same individual who caused a stir claiming his alma mater, Ramaz ,dissed him for being intermarried?

Do you think this is statistically true "Only 5 percent of BMG alumni become congregational rabbis. And 25 percent become educators. The rest are engaged in study for its own sake. They will enter the workforce when they are done; armed with skills of logic, formal reasoning and a type of critical thinking, they largely succeed after training in a professional field or going directly into business. 2. They say the Brisker Rov got very upset when someone tried to bring a rayah to something he said (about the avoda in the BHMK) from the report of a non-Jew who witnessed it and reported on what he saw. He said today you rely on his report for something that you agree with and next day you (or someone else) will bring rayahs from this non-Jew or another one to something else.
