A community alert to the frum residents of the five towns

If he was told to publicize why not name the individual, also why not mention the names of the five gedolim who ruled that this information be disseminated to the public on the internet? how many people will be wrongly accused if they dont know who the 'right' person is  because this alert does not say who the person is. Hoffman should be up front if its that big of an issue.

Community Alert
By Rabbi Yair Hoffman on http://5tjt.com/community-alert/
The following is a grave warning to young women and their parents:
There is an individual loose in our community who presents himself as an activist fighting against the dangers of internet porn addiction. He gives public lectures and speeches in various venues presenting himself as an expert in the field. He has spoken in shuls, Yeshivos, and Bais Yaakovs. He warns young men and young women to stay clear of potential sites and predators. This speaker is eloquent, articulate, and reassuring. He cites facts and figures authoritatively. Yet he has a pattern of eventually getting involved in biblically forbidden ways with young ladies that reach out to him. These young ladies may be single or even married.

Someone in the audience who has struggled or struggles with the issue of this type of addiction may contact him or urge a friend or relative to contact him. Indeed, the person contacting him may initiate the contact just having heard of the topic of the speech. The contact between the two begins innocently enough, at times, he has presented himself as a type of therapist or counselor and promises confidentiality. At first the confidentially is maintained. When the young lady begins to delineate her problem, he explains that the problem is so severe that it must be either dealt with through texting, or over the phone or in person.
The patterns follow well-documented typical grooming techniques of others who attempt to develop inappropriate relationships with other young people. They compliment them. The relationship quickly becomes inappropriate and professional boundaries are not maintained. This individual has an office where he sees people, or he may meet them on a more casual basis. He tells the individuals that they need to develop normal patterns of relationships. He models that normal pattern of relationship.
This particular individual makes sure that he does not get involved on a physical level with anyone under the age of eighteen. The individual treats them as "special" and may even say that this is the first time he has been so taken by a person.
This author has reached out to five separate Gedolei Torah - each Gadol has ruled that the information contained in this article must be disseminated to the public on the internet. The two warnings are as follows:
1] Anyone who is currently seeing a "therapist" should make sure that the therapist is truly licensed and undergoes regular supervision. It goes without saying that this should be verified independently.
2] All yichud situations of a male therapist alone with a woman must be avoided, notwithstanding any assurances of permissions granted by Rabbis etc.
If you feel that you or a family member has been victimized by this individual please contact guardyoureyes.com. They will keep your identity private and this will help prevent others from being victimized.
This matter is being researched for any possible illegalities involving misrepresentations of a therapeutic nature and if there are any illegalities involved in physical involvement with someone in a therapeutic context even if the therapist is not a licensed new York State therapist.

  1. Y.H. doesn't need any Godol, any proof, any names or any info. As most readers here are aware by now, If Hoffman says something its usually krum and the opposite of Daas Torah.
basically whatever he writes ASSUME THE OPPOSITE is true!!

    1. Never understood why anyone in the yeshiva world gave the guy even 20 seconds. he's one thousand percent balabus calls himself a 'Rabbi'. good joke. every once in a while he finds something to show off his kana'us so that the oilam who doesn't know they're head from they're toes will call him a right winger, which hes not! I think his whole religious education came from blogs....

    1. He decided that they retracted after he decided that they signed. Imagination works both ways.

    2. You're both being foolish.

      Why don't you both apologize?

  3. It was at the behest of Rav Aharon Feldman Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Ner Yisroel and Rav Dovid Harpenes Shlita, a renowned Posaik in Williamsburg that this community alert be issued.

  4. Why did Mr. Hoffman never write anything about ............... a man who had presented a true and real problem. The rabonnim of the Five Towns very clearly announced it.

  5. He mentioned two names: Rav Aron Feldman and Rabbi Dovid Horpenes. Did you reach out to them?

    1. he is attacking the people who attack others hiding behind a fake shield of protecting the public in issues of abuse. They use the abuse issue as a human shield to hide behind and then attack anyone they dont like.
