The Rabbonim who did not sign

Over 100 Rabbonim signed a kol Koreh calling on any individual with firsthand knowledge or reasonable basis to suspect child abuse has a religious obligation to promptly notify the secular law enforcement of that information. The letter is not dated at all its hard to know when it was compiled. The "bloggers" and commenters were quick to point out the many prominent Roshei Yeshiva, Admorim and other top tier Rabbonim missing from the signatures. They question how can someone not sign? they must be protecting the molesters and covering up for them... bla bla bla, goes their argument. There is no need to respond to them.
The term "reasonable doubt" is very vague and is a loaded statement. The Agudah has set forth guidelines regarding what is considered raglayim ladavar in reporting abuse. Notice, no current member of the Moetzes has signed on to this. Perhaps they dont agree with certain things perhaps they do agree and did not sign we dont know. If they do or dont sign on, its up to them, and only them, not the charedi bashing bloggers.

  1. I am a Rav of a smaller Shul in a decent sized community and was never approached about signing. I had no idea that such a document existed until I read about it online, yesterday. I hope people don't think that it is because I would, Chas V'Shalom, protect those who would harm others.

    1. Why don't you sign your name here. This is the perfect time to put your name.

  2. Putting aside the issue itself...I think the more interesting thing is that these Rabbanim and R"Y, among them some big name talmidei chachamim - Rav Kalman Epstein, Rav Nota Greenblat, Rav Shmuel Fuerst, Rav Motti Yaffen etc. who did sign, despite the fact that there was no Aguda Moetzes support.
What does that say about how they themselves relate to the opinions of the Moetzes?

  3. It is important to note that the gedolei EY (R' Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt"l, R' Elyashiv zt"l, Tzitz Eliezer tz"l and yl"t R' Chaim Kanievesky) have long held that an individual can report abuse to the police as it is pikuach nefesh. With that support so no one can really accuse the rabbonim who signed this kol koreh as da'as yechidim on this issue.

  4. A baal habuss from Chicago put This kol koreh together he gathered signatures from all over. It is against what the gedolim on the moetzes have ruled. It skips the part going to a rav first.

  5. Did Rav shmuli Feurst ask Rav AC Levin before putting together this letter?

  6. This letter is against the official Aguda policy of going first to a Rav to validate Raglayim Ledavar. R' feurst is going head to head with Rav Avraham Chaim Levine Shlita.

  8. When will youmolestation issue. change the name of this blog to the Promolesters blog? Your dislike for bloggers (of which you are one yourself) seems to have clouded your mind in the whole molestation issue. I would say this site is clearly pro molestation or pro letting them get away with it unless its seen by witnesses or video which is very likely to almost never happen because molesters are smart and dont want to get caught and go to jail...
